Heading out on a road trip? Congrats! There’s nothing quite like hitting the open road and seeing new sights. But before you hit the gas, it’s important to make sure your car is up for the journey. That’s why we’ve put together this quick Pre-Trip Car Inspection Checklist. By taking care of a few key maintenance items before you go, you can help ensure a smooth ride all the way to your destination.
Tires: Check your tire pressure and tread depth to help prevent a blowout or skidding on wet roads. You should also check for any nails or other objects that may be stuck in your tires.
Fluids: Top off your windshield washer fluid so you can keep your windshield clean, even in dusty or muddy conditions. You should also check your oil level and top off any other fluids that may be low, such as power steering fluid, brake fluid, or transmission fluid.
Lights: Make sure all of your lights are working properly, including your headlights, taillights, brake lights, and turn signals. This will help you stay visible to other drivers, even in low-light conditions.
Battery: A dead battery is the last thing you want on a road trip. So before you go, make sure your battery is fully charged and that the connections are clean and tight.
Belts And Hoses: Inspect all of your belts and hoses for signs of wear or leaking. If any of them are damaged, replace them before hitting the road.
Emergency Kit: While we hope you never have to use it, it’s always a good idea to keep an emergency kit in your car-just in case. Your kit should include things like jumper cables, a first-aid kit, flares, and a flashlight (with extra batteries).
